Why 3 Year Vaccinations?
Vaccination Protocols
The world of vaccines is constantly changing and is often a source of confusion or controversy. Some vaccines are now available as 3 year vaccines rather than annual vaccines, and we offer those whenever possible. For your pet's well-being, we stock the safest vaccines on the market, resulting in a better experience for your pet. If you have questions please Contact us at 952-445-7956, our Staff is happy to assist you.
Canine Core Vaccines
For adult patients, the Canine Distemper Vaccine (DHP) is a 3 year vaccine. Similarly, the Rabies Vaccine is a 3 year vaccine for adult patients. Other vaccines available for dogs are the Lyme, Lepto, and Bordetella Vaccines. Not sure what your dog needs? Our team can help identify any lifestyle risk factors and work with you to customize a vaccination plan that is just right for your dog! Starting from scratch with a new puppy? Feline Core Vaccines
For our feline friends, we use unique "non-adjuvent" vaccines which are specially designed for cats. These vaccines are less reactive with the feline body, and are very safe while still providing the protection cats need. Cats should receive a Rabies Vaccine annually, a Distemper (RCPP) Vaccine every 3 years, and in some cases a Feline Leukemia Vaccine, too. Have a new kitty vs an adult cat? Importance of Wellness Exams
Marschall Road Animal Hospital recommends annual wellness exams for the same reason your physician and dentist recommend them. If you can detect a problem in it's early stages, it's more likely to be treated and resolved with less expense, less difficulty and better success.
As the saying goes, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Vaccinations, Heartworm prevention, Flea and Tick Prevention, and routine deworming are important components of wellness care and can prevent diseases that are not only life-threatening, but very expensive to treat. Let us recommend a wellness program based on your pet's breed (some breeds are predisposed to certain health problems), age, lifestyle, and overall health. We can provide advice on Senior Care, Dental Care, and even Nutrition!
