Free Initial Puppy Exam A trained and knowledgeable Marschall Road Animal Hospital technician and doctor will dedicate time to answer these questions during our Free Initial Puppy Exam. The exam includes a complimentary educational booklet covering basic puppy behavior, house training, exercise, toys, feeding, grooming, preventive care, and more.

During the Free Initial Puppy Exam, the doctor will perform a complete exam to verify your puppy is healthy. We will cover the upcoming care, such as vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying or neutering, and other preventive care. If you would like a complimentary demo on nail trimming or ear cleaning, just ask us!

Puppy Exams and Timeline for Care
8 weeks old Complementary Exam DHPPC vaccination (1st of 3) Bordetella vaccination De-worming Heartworm Plus Dose Frontline Plus for Fleas & Ticks
12 weeks old Complementary Exam DHPPC vaccination (2nd of 3) LYME vaccination (1st of 2) Follow-up Stool Test for intestinal parasites Heartworm plus dose Frontline Plus for Fleas & Ticks
16 weeks old Complementary Exam DHPPC vaccination (3rd of 3) LYME vaccination (2nd of 2) Rabies (good for 1 year) including Rabies Tag & Certificate (get license from City) Heartworm Plus dose (OK to pick up doses for rest of year if no dose changes) Frontline Plus (OK to pick up doses for rest of year if no dose changes)
20 weeks old Germanic breeds & Pit bulls require a 4th DHPPC vaccination
6 months old Complementary Exam Spay or Neuter Microchip ID Change diet from Puppy to Adult food in most cases
Annually Complementary Exam Annual Vaccinations Heartworm Profile (including 4DX Tick Panel & Mini Profile) Stool Test Heartworm Prevention & Frontline Plus for Fleas & Ticks Monitor for Weight Control and reduce calories if needed Monitor for Dental care and possible Dental Cleaning/Polishing/ X-rays Monitor Life stage changes (dogs transition to senior care around 7 years old)
