You will be missed…

Lend Me A Dog
"I will lend to you for a while, a dog", God said. For you to love him while
he lives and to mourn for him when he is dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe for two or three. But will you,
till I call him back, take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you and should his stay be brief,
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise that he will stay, since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught below I want this dog to learn.
I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true.
And from the folks that crowd life's land, I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love; nor think the labor vain;
Nor hate me when I come to take my lovely dog again?
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear Lord, thy will be done,
for all the joys this dog will bring, the risk of grief we'll run."
Will you shelter him with tenderness?
Will you love him while you may?
And for the happiness you'll know forever grateful stay?
But should I call him back much sooner than you've planned;
Please brave the bitter grief that comes and try to understand.
If, by your love, you've managed, my wishes to achieve,
In memory of him you've loved; be thankful; do not grieve.
Cherish every moment of your furry charge.
He filled your home with songs of joy the time he was alive.
Let not his passing take from you those memories to enjoy.

He was smart, funny, affectionate, gentle and altogether the light of our lives.  He came to us just after my Dad passed away.  He made Mom, my sister and I laugh and love through a difficult time.  He always was in my office with me when I was working.  He went everywhere with us.  We simply ache with missing him.  God Bless the people at Marschall Road Animal Hospital for the care and concern they showed during his illness.  Rest in gentle peace near the Rainbow Bridge McTavish.

A Very Sleepy Boy!

 

In loving memory of my sweetest boy, Zipper. 

July 25th, 2000-October 13th, 2011.

 

My true companion, affectionate and loving.  Always at my heels, in my lap and by my side.  No matter what the mood or day, Zipper was there with his tail wagging and tongue out kissing; that little tongue never gave up!  Then Zipper got sick.  After many tearful trips to the vet, the day came that he was no longer in the happy place that I knew  he should be in, and we had to say good-bye.  I miss him laying in his spots and greeting us at the door.  I miss every single ounce of him.  My heart aches for him each and every day.  His pawprints will forever remain close to my heart.  I love him and miss him with all I that I have.  Until we meet again, at the Rainbow Bridge...
